Ross has over 20 years in the Access industry working across Renewables, Oil & Gas and Infrastructure Projects and is the founder and overall technical lead for Span Access. Having worked for a range of both OEM’s and SME’s across the industry he started Span Access to drive innovative solutions into an industry that has been slow to take up on new methodologies and safer working practices. The success that Span Access has achieved to date has predominantly come through Ross and he now is seeking to take the company and its solutions to the next level.

Nick Smith is a former business owner who has been involved across a multitude of different industries, which include the leisure market, food processing and property.  With extensive working at height, and temporary access experience he has a keen eye for the financial and commercial aspects of the business and has developed them throughout his career. Nick covers all commercial and overall operations responsibility within Span Access.

Kenny is a successful commercially led business ‘can do’ professional who combines 30 years’ demonstrable international multi-sector leadership experience within start-up, SME & corporate organisations. He has managed at Board, Commercial, Operations, & Project Management level, across the Technology, Oil & Gas and Wind Energy Sectors.

Kenny is a Chartered Engineer (MIET), a Chartered Manager and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute as well as being a certified Prince2 Project Manager. He is also an active member of the Institute of Directors.

Kelly Smith fills the role of Management Accountant at Span Access.  Kelly brings with her a wealth of experience from the financial sector, which allows her to maintain control over all cost related facets of the business.  Kelly’s understanding of Span’s ongoing and future projects allows for accurate forecasting and financial management.

Dan Fincham

Dan has successfully transitioned from a Rope Access L3 Supervisor into a Project Management role where he has the natural ability to communicate at both site level and in the boardroom.  Dan’s practical experience allows for a more detailed and accurate assessment of any work scope.

Malcolm Sinclair

Malcolm is a highly skilled and well respected IRATA L3 Rope Access Trainer with a wealth of experience and knowledge.  Malcolm now utilises these skills as the Technical Authority for Span Access covering, training, netting design and installation, cradles and suspended platforms and all other Working-at-Height services.

Simon Wall

Project CAD Engineer

With 20+ years-experience in CAD and a background in Structural, Civil & Building Services Engineering, Simon drives Span Access CAD system strategy. He is experienced in a wide range of 2D & 3D CAD software and is integrating the Span processes with BIM standards to help coordination within all projects.  He has been involved in a series of global projects ranging from the Queensferry Crossing (Fife), Ferrari World (Abu Dhabi), Queen Margaret University & Edinburgh Business Park (Edinburgh), to the Pulkovo Airport (St Petersburg). His additional interests, in which he is influencing Span’s involvement, include Rapid Manufacturing (3D Printing / CNC) and AR/VR Technology.

With a passion for self-continuous learning in CAD and Engineering, James joined Span Access in 2018 and is the newest addition to the Span Engineering Team. Holding a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, since graduating he has gained experience in structural design and building services including major Edinburgh based construction projects.

Stuart Hunter, having left a successful career in the Civil Service has brought with him an impressive skill set which lends itself to operations Coordination.  Stuart is a highly meticulous and organised individual; an asset to any project team.

An experienced and qualified Stores and Warehousing Operative, with 12 years materials experience, Robert manages all the materials control, and rigging inspection functions with Span Access. In addition, Robert is an IRATA qualified Rope Access Technician and can assist as necessary with projects in the field.
